About the Masterpiece
Franz Liszt embarked on the composition of his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra
No. 2 in A major, S.125, during the fertile creative period spanning 1839 to 1840, characterized
by his virtuosic prowess and innovative musical explorations. Following this initial burst of
inspiration, Liszt shelved the manuscript, allowing it to mature over the course of nearly a
decade.
